Portrait of Amie Jackson – 20” x 26” Oil on Canvas 2007

This painting shows my niece Amie holding her pet rabbit Frosty. It’s hard to know what is going on inside the mind of a child. Painting this picture allowed me to recall my own dreamy childhood. The walled garden brings to my mind ‘The Secret Garden’ by Frances Hodgson Burnett and Frosty made me think of the white rabbit that disappeared down a rabbit hole in Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
